1. The American horror film “It” released in 2017, based on a novel by Stephen King, two weeks after the premiere, became the highest-grossing horror film in cinema history, overtaking the horror movie “The Exorcist”. The film on October 31, 2017 grossed $990 million at the box office on a budget of $35 million.
2. There is a lot of Stephen King’s works that had been turned into a great variety of movies, and his son even starred in one of them (“Creepshow”). Also, the writer himself appears in almost every movie. In particular, he played a priest in the “Pet Sematary”.
3. In the horror movie “Pet Cemetery” seven different cats were employed to play Church.
4. Very often, horror movie characters become iconic. Everyone knows such villains as Freddy Krueger from “A Nightmare on Elm Street” or Jason Voorhees from “Friday the 13th”, and many more. The references to these antiheroes can often be seen in new movies, and sometimes the characters themselves just copied from them.
5. By the way, it is a little-known fact that Jason from “Friday the 13th” was named Josh at the original script, and in the first part of this series of films, he was generally a city legend and the killer was his mother.

10. “The Exorcist” is the first horror movie that was nominated for an Oscar and won. After the release of the movie, the stairs where a priest falls down the steps, became a landmark of Georgetown and have since been called “Exorcist Steps”. An interesting fact is that the movie was filmed in the house where the producer and screenwriter William Peter Blatty once lived.
11. It only took 18 days to shoot “Saw” and the box office grossed over $100 million worldwide.
12. “The Final Destination” movie story was originally written as the unproduced script for one of the “The X-Files” episode.
13. During the filming of the opening scene in “The Final Destination 3”, the cast members had to ride the roller coaster 26 times.
